POLES PERSECUTE UKRAINIANS FOR DEMANDING OWN SCHOOLS

Latest reports from Lwiw (Western Ukraine) indicate that the Poles are continuing on a greater scale than ever their persecutions of those Ukrainians who demand that their children have their own schools where they can learn their native language. Arrests without the slightest foundation are made day by day.

In the district of Rawa, the Polish police descended upon the home of Theodore Zholondok and not finding him in, searched the house for evidence of his "anti-state activities." Later he was arrested, manacled, and jailed. According to the police the charge against him is that he committed a crime against Poland by his action in influencing the local Ukrainian school children to go out on strike against their Polish school teacher, Denesevich.

In another locality, district of Zolochiw, it is reported that at the beginning of the new school year the Polish teachers have begun to force Ukrainian children to say their prayers in Polish language. those who do not are punished. The children are forced to write the prayers in the Polish language until they are able to recite them from memory. This is only one of the methods pursued by the Poles to Polonize the Ukrainian children.
