Party Leaders To Represent 9 Red
Nations, Including Ukraine, in U.N.
United Nations, N.Y., Sept. 8 (AP). - All the nine Communist countries
in the U.N. will send top leaders in government, parliament or party to
head their delegations to the General Assembly meeting opening September
20.
The Communist leaders are expected to attend the early days of the three-month
session. They are:
- Albania - Mehmet Shehu, Premier and member of the party Politburo.
- Bulgaria - Todor Zhivkov, party first secretary.
- Czechoslovakia - Antonin Novotny, President and party first secretary.
- Hungary - Janos Kadar, Minister of State (Deputy Premier) and party
first secretary.
- Poland - Wladyslaw Gomulka, member of the Council of State and party
first secretary.
- Romania - George Gheorghiu-Dej, member of the Presidium of the Grand
National Assembly (Parliament) and party secretary general.
- Soviet Union - Nikita S. Khrushchev, Premier and party first secretary.
- Ukraine - Nikolai V. Podgorny, member of the Supreme Soviet (Parliament)
of the Soviet Union and of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of Ukraine.
- Byelorussia - Kiril T. Mazurov, member of the Supreme Soviet of the
Soviet Union and of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of Byelorussia.
