On Sunday, August 28, 1960, the SS. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church held a very successful parish picnic at Patrylow's Grove, in East Kanilworth, N.J. A warm sunny day and a large turn-out of loyal parishioners, including the most recent arrivals to our shores, contributed to make it one of the best social events in years. As usual H. N. S. members were kept very busy all day long, keeping up with the demands of those spending an enjoyable and carefree day of relaxation. The Reverend Fathers of the parish gratefully appreciated the support of the parishioners toward the function from which all proceeds will benefit the New Church and Rectory Building Fund being conducted in Jersey City.

His Excellency Bishop John Prashko, Exarch of Australia, paid his second guest visitation to the SS. Peter and Paul Parish in Jersey City on August 21. His Excellency told of the progress made to care for the spiritual welfare of our Ukrainian Catholic brethren in Australia. He said that 13 parishes had been organized to date, but that much more mission work would be required before the needs of all were cared for adequately. In conclusion, His Excellency bestowed the Apostolic Blessing upon each parishioner personally and everyone considered it a privilege to aid him with his mission work by donating generously.

Many men of the Jersey City H. N. S. attended the highly successful U. Y. L. - N. A. National Convention in New York City during the Labor Day weekend. Jersey City was well represented because individual members make it their personal business to support the affairs of their many loyal friends from other grounds. This constructive aid reciprocated on every occasion possible, permits each local or national organization to grow and prosper with the passing years. At the same time it brings our Ukrainian youth with a common background closer together for eventual unified consolidation at some future date, which if accomplished will be of mutual benefit to all concerned.

This year many members of the parish have made plans to attend the National Convention of the Ukrainian Catholic Youth League of the USA at Hazelton, Pa., Sept. 22 to Sept. 25th at the Hotel Altamont.
