St. John's School pupils present 10th annual Christmas concert
Pupils of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic School in Newark, N.J., presented their 10th annual Christmas concert on December 17, 1995, singing carols in Ukrainian, English, Spanish and French. Ukrainian selections included folk carols from the Lemko, Hutsul and Halychyna regions of Ukraine. The choirs of the upper and lower grades were both conducted by Michael Stashchyshyn. Also on the bill ere recitations by the schoolchildren, and performances by the St. John's Church Choir and St. John's alumnus Volodymyr Smishkewych, who sang solo selections and played the lira. Ukrainian folk dance students of Roma Pryma-Bohachevsky appeared with a special "Welcome" dance for the newborn Jesus Christ.
