Credit union CEOs and managers meet at annual conference
ROCHESTER, N.Y. - A CEO/managers conference sponsored by the Ukrainian National Credit Union Association (U.S.A.), a trade association of 22 Ukrainian American credit unions, was held February 17-20, in Venice, Fla., at the Best Western Ambassador Suites, a hotel owned by Ukrainian American businessman Bohdan Guran.
Coordinating the event were Tamara Denysenko, UNCUA chairman of the board and general manager/CEO of the Rochester Ukrainian FCU (Rochester, N.Y.), and Borys Bluj, general manager of Michigan Selfreliance FCU (Warren, Mich).
Over 20 credit union CEOs, managers and other professionals who currently provide a variety of financial and community services to over 75,000 credit union members attended the three-day event.
In today's ever-changing economic and financial environment, the Florida conference provided participants insight into new National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) rules and regulations affecting lending in general and real estate loans in particular. Various investment products, internal policies and procedures, traditional financial services and electronic delivery systems, member demographics and credit union operations now and in the future also were discussed.
Speaking at the conference were Tim McCullom, NCUA regional director of operations, Region 3, Atlanta; Joe Castrodale, vice-president, and Troy Clark, CFA, CPA, of Stephens Investment Group for Credit Unions; and Anise Proser, vice-president of Human Resources, Florida Credit Union League.
Of special interest and discussion were topics on proposed UNCUA-sponsored credit union affinity/courtesy cards, potential credit/debit/ATM card services for smaller credit unions, as well as marketing the benefits of credit union services to a new generation of members.
On Friday evening, February 18, a special meeting was held at St. Andrew's Religious and Cultural Center in North Port, Fla. Conference participants and UNCUA Chair Denysenko had an opportunity to present the benefits of credit union membership to the ever-growing Ukrainian community of retirees in Florida.
