- NEW YORK: The Shevchenko Scientific Society is sponsoring a presentation
by Dr. Oleh Romaniv, a member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine
and president of the Shevchenko Scientific Society in Ukraine, on the topic
"The Recent Manifestations of Russification in Ukraine." The
presentation will be held at the Shevchenko Scientific Society, 63 Fourth
Ave. (between Ninth and 10th streets) at 5 p.m. For additional information

- KERHONKSON, N.Y.: An exhibit of Ukrainian ceramics and pysanky by New
York artist Sofika Zielyk will be on display and available for purchase
in the library of the main building and Soyuzivka at 11 a.m.-6 p.m. The
exhibit will include over 250 pysanky on chicken, goose, rhea and ostrich

- NEW YORK: In celebration of the Rusalka-Kupalo season, the Ukrainian
Art and Literary Club and the New York Bandura Ensemble present "Rusalka
Sat on the White Birch Tree," an evening of Ukrainian ritual music
featuring Lavrentia Turkewicz, who will sing water sprite and summer solstice
songs to the accompaniment of the bandura. Time: 7 p.m. Donation: $10.
"Rusalia: Fertility Rites of Spring," an exhibit of photo reproductions
featuring the ancient ritual celebrations as depicted on Ukrainian bracelet
jewelry from the Kyivan-Rus' period (12th-13th centuries) will be on view
through July 8. Gallery hours: Friday 6-8 p.m.; Saturday, 1-5 p.m. The
