- DETROIT: The Ukrainian American Archives and Museum of Detroit invites
the public to view the exhibit titled "The 'Tree of Life' Motif in
Embroidered Ritual Cloths (Rushnyky) of Central Ukraine." The exhibition,
which will include original antique ritual cloths from the Kyiv, Poltava,
and Chernihiv regions dating from the 19th and early 20th centuries, will
be on view at the Ukrainian American Archives and Museum, 11756 Charest
St., Hamtramck, Mich., through Sunday, September 15. Exhibit hours: Wednesday
through Saturday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.; Sunday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Admission: adults,
$3; students and seniors, $2; children age 12-18, $1; museum members, no

- CAMBRIDGE, Mass.: The Harvard Ukrainian Summer Institute will host
a special guest lecture by the ambassador of Ukraine to Canada, Dr. Yuri
Shcherbak. The lecture, free and open to the public, will take place at
7 p.m. in the Thompson Room of Barker Center, 12 Quincy St., Harvard University.

- BOSTON: The 55th annual convention of the Ukrainian Orthodox League
invites the public to attend its dance at 9 p.m. on Saturday at the Boston
Radisson Hotel located on Stuart Street. Burya will provide entertainment
at the zabava; tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door. On Sunday,
Ron Cahute will perform his Barabolya concert at St. Andrew Ukrainian Orthodox

- CHICAGO: The Foundation for the Advancement of Ukrainian Studies at
the University of Illinois invites the public to a roundtable discussion
titled, "Political and Economic Situation in Ukraine after the Last
Parlimentary Elections in the Opinion of the Ukrainian Scholars of the
United States and Canada." The following scholars from the 21st annual
Conference on Ukrainian Subjects at the University of Illinois will participate:
Profs. Taras Hunczak, Vasyl Markus, Petro Potichnyj and Jaroslav Rozumnyj.
The event will take place at the Ukrainian Cultural Center, 2247 W. Chicago
Ave. The roundtable discussion begins at 1 p.m., following a light luncheon,
which will be served at noon. The suggested donation is $20 per person.
