Kerry lineage traced to royalty, including Anna of Kyivan Rus'

PARSIPPANY, N.J. - Burke's Peerage, a British research group of aristocracy and ancestry, has determined that Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry will win the November election because he can claim more connections to royalty than George W. Bush.

The director of the group, Harold Brooks-Baker, explained to Reuters that, "Because of the fact that every presidential candidate with the most royal genes and chromosomes has always won the November presidential election, the coming election - based on 42 previous presidents - will go to John Kerry." For example, before the 2000 presidential race, it was determined that Bush had more ties to royalty than Al Gore, claiming common blood with Britain's Queen Elizabeth, as well as Kings Henry III and Charles II of England.

In fact, according to Brooks-Baker, Mr. Kerry has more royal blood than any previous president. The senator's English ancestors include Henry III and Henry II, and he is distantly related to Richard the Lionhearted, famous for leading the Third Crusade in 1189. He has blood ties to Tsar Ivan "the Terrible" of Russia, an emperor of Byzantium, and the shahs of Iran. Mr. Kerry is also related to Henry I of France, and his wife, Anna Yaroslavna. Mr. Kerry's ties to Anna give him kinship with the royal houses of Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Kyivan Rus'.

According to the Encyclopedia of Ukraine, Anna Yaroslavna was born in 1024 or 1032 and was one of three daughters of Yaroslav Mudryi ("the Wise"), the grand prince of Kyivan Rus' in 1019-1054. In order to strengthen ties with Europe, he married his sons and daughters off to foreign royalty.

Anna married King Henry I of France on August 4, 1049, in Rheims. In return, Henry was promised support from Yaroslav against the Holy Roman Empire. Anna became queen of France in 1049, and after Henry's death in 1060,she ruled as regent while her son Philip I was still a child. Anna died sometime around 1075.

Due to Yaroslav's arrangement of so many dynastic unions through his children, the grand prince earned the honored title of "Father-in-Law of Europe."
