A Fortunate Meeting
(Taras Shevchenko not only wrote poems and the play, "Nazar Stodolia," but also several short stories. Below is an excerpt from the short story, "Mystets" (Artist). The excerpt tells of how the artist Ivan Soshenko, met young Taras in a park one day. Taras was sketching some of the statues and Soshenko liked the youth's work.
