Zakarpattia fights smuggling

UZHHOROD – Zakarpattia Oblast State Administration Chair Hennadiy Moskal said on August 11 that contraband flows on the Ukraine-Poland, Ukraine-Slovakia and Ukraine-Hungary borders “were stopped completely.” Mr. Moskal reported that a joint meeting among representatives of Ukraine, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia had been held to efficiently combat the illegal circulation of goods. According to Mr. Moskal, during the course of the meeting, the Ukrainian side underlined a common responsibility and need for combining efforts in combating smuggling. For greater control over the commodities transported across the border, 700 border guards have been sent to the Zakarpattia region said the first deputy head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Vasyl Servatyuk.
