Ukraine says Russia amassing troops at the border as Rada condemns escalation of fighting in the east

KYIV – Ukrainian military Commander-in-Chief Lt. Gen. Ruslan Khomchak this week notified parliament that Russian troops are amassing near the country’s border in the “north, east and south,” including in occupied Crimea.

KYIV – The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), the country’s domestic intelligence agency, on March 12 announced that it is investigating former and current government officials for treason related to the extension of Russia’s lease of its Black Sea Fleet (BSF) in Crimea.

KYIV – Perhaps Odesa’s most visible pro-Ukrainian, anti-graft activist from the Euro-Maidan era was sentenced to seven years and three months in prison on February 23 by a court in the Black Sea port city.
