Celebrate 30 years of the UAHF folk dance workshop

The Ukrainian American Heritage Foundation of the Lower Anthracite Region (UAHF) will celebrate 30 years of song and dance at the annual folk dance camp and workshop, Monday, July 1, through Friday, July 5. The camp is held at the Ukrainian Homestead of CEC, ODWU, Inc., located at 1230 Beaver Run Drive in Lehighton, PA 18235, and runs daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

Camp activities include dance instruction, folk singing, sports, crafts and swimming. Beginner instruction is offered to children age 5 and up and advanced workshop instruction is available for experienced dancers age 11 through adult. The workshop is under the artistic direction of Pennsylvania Master Artist Andrij Dobriansky. 

The camp will conclude with the 30th anniversary performance on Saturday, July 6 at 7 p.m. with a special dance and party to follow the show featuring the Just Us Orchestra from Northeastern Pennsylvania. The camp is supported by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency, through its regional arts funding partnership, Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts (PPA). State government funding for the arts depends upon an annual appropriation by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and support from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. PPA is administered in this region by the Lehigh Valley Arts Council.
