Another traditional event is the pysanka workshop, organized by Dr. Ihor Kunasz, a long-time pysanka artist. After showing the film “Pysanka” by Slavko Nowytski, the Gold Hugo Winner at the Chicago International Film Festival, workshop participants were walked though the historical evolution of the pysanka, its present religious motifs, and the practical aspects of using a “kistka” on a curved egg surface.

Most could not stop marveling at the final product when the wax was finally removed from the egg.
